Why one is an oil and one is a gel
The oil is anhydrous because its hero ingredient is an oil-phase lipid and cannot be delivered any other way. The gel is water-based because its actives are water-soluble. The format follows the chemistry, not the marketing.
An ingrown hair is a follicle problem. Not a you problem.
Hair doesn't grow inward because you shaved wrong, or because you weren't clean enough. It grows inward because the follicle is blocked and the hair shaft is stiff enough to curl back into skin instead of breaking through it. Soften the shaft. Keep the follicle clear. That's most of the job.
